No. No charity in the UK (except NSPCC under specific circumstances) has legal authority to take custody of a child. Only the Police and Local Authority Children's Services have this power. BABY-i's role is to support, guide, and accompany you through the statutory process.
Yes. All interactions are governed by GDPR and statutory safeguarding protocols. We will only breach confidentiality if there is an immediate risk of serious harm to a child or vulnerable adult this is a legal duty, not a choice, and we will always tell you if we need to do this.
Yes — a BABY-i advisor can accompany you for emotional support if your local authority agrees. We are not legal representatives or social workers. We do not speak for you or sign documents. We are there so you do not have to sit in a difficult room alone.
